At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

We are making significant changes to how we deliver our mahi by

  • Taking practical action to give effect to te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Giving priority to regional and local voice.
  • Delivering greater responsiveness, accessibility and integrated services and support.
  • Improving feedback loops and information flows.

About our group and team

The People Capability team supports people leaders to build high-performing teams capable of delivering on our purpose. We provide advice and support with workforce planning, capability development, organisational design, diversity and inclusion, and wellbeing, as well as everyday recruitment services and employment relations advice. The MyHR Services team is part of the HR Operations team, in People Capability. Our team are the first point of call for managers with HR related queries. This can be for information on HR policies, procedures and processes, recruitment, and employment legislation – which ensures that managers have access to correct consistent advice when they need it.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

As an Assistant HR Advisor, you will provide managers with advice and support for all people-related queries. You will deliver high volume transactional HR processes, including employment documentation, to an excellent standard, taking pride in every service delivery. The salary range is $54,079 to $58,886 gross per annum dependent on experience.

This is an entry level role, where the most important attributes are your willingness to learn, your passion and enthusiasm, and customer services background. You will also have:

  • Administrative and customer service experience
  • Strong time management and prioritising skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Integrity and able to maintain confidential information
  • High levels of attention to detail and accuracy in a busy deadline driven role
  • An interest in human resources – ideally with a related degree or studying within a related field
