About the Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity that doesn’t come up often. As we move into health reforms in 2022, we are looking for three inspirational COVID-19 Operations Lead Coordinators for our district wide COVID Response Team who are passionate about the improving the health and wellbeing of our Southern communities where they live, learn, work and play. You will be helping lead the response team as we move into the new national Public Health service. This includes embedding Te Tiriti o Waitangi in our programmes and working collaboratively with our partners to address the determinants of health and reduce health inequities.
This role is responsible for the distribution of work among the team of case and contact investigator support and to make sure the team is operating effectively. It also involves keeping the team up to date with any changes and processes. This role provides day to day leadership, operational management and planning for the team to deliver a sustainable, high quality service that contributes to the achievement of organisational goals.
You will be leading a team of people working across the Southern district who are undertaking Covid-19 cases investigations, contact tracing and outbreak management work (either in Southern or in other parts of NZ). Assigning out work and keeping the team on track with:
- Case and Contact investigation: First calls to cases and their households to find out the source of their illness and anyone they may have exposed.
- Exposure Event Investigation: Talking to business owners and investigating likely contacts at any place the case has been while infectious.
- Case and Contact Monitoring: Completing daily follow up with the cases and their households.
- Outbreak Management: working with businesses to ensure they have appropriate management plans in place for dealing with an outbreak.
You must be able to work between 8 – 10 hours a day in a 7-day a week roster. There are part time and full-time work opportunities. There are offices based in Dunedin, Queenstown and Invercargill.
You will have excellent IT skills and you will be using the National Contact Tracing Solution (NCTS) information technology. On the job training for all aspects of the role will be provided, but it’s essential that you have the following attributes to be contributing member of this team.
- Experience working with diverse and vulnerable communities with a focus on equity.
- Understanding of the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and applying this to your work.
- Need to be very tech savvy – all the work is online using NCTS, Relationship Management Tool and over the phone.
- Excellent communication and people skills – you will be talking to people on the phone and would need to be able to navigate difficult conversations.
- Able to give and follow direction.
- Able to work well within a team and assist with leading the team.
- Have basic knowledge of COVID-19 disease.
- Adaptable to work in a rapidly changing environment and pivot accordingly.
- Strong risk assessment skills.
