Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

The Delivery Managers are responsible for developing effective relationships and trust with schools and other internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring that consultants are working effectively and efficiently to deliver school infrastructure projects on time, to budget and to scope as set out in the project brief. The Delivery Managers will oversee a group of capital projects (building construction) and will follow and work within Ministry and EIS policy, procedures and guidelines.

Mōhou ake | About you

You are a team player who has the ability to independently lead vertical build (offsite manufactured building) school classroom projects. The ideal candidate would bring at least 5-7 years’ experience in the construction industry to a senior position within the programme, including an ability to quickly and effectively establish a trusted relationship with our stakeholders and be able to act as a mentor to colleagues to improve our team’s delivery capabilities.

You will take the lead across our internal processes of business case preparation and into planning for delivery, monitoring of the work, and financial control. You will bring a proven track record of delivering projects to time, budget and specification including having delivered some vertical builds. This means experience across either (or both) consultant and contractor roles and in leading construction projects through all phases of a project’s lifecycle. You must be familiar with the New Zealand construction management environment and all forms of standard contracts.

You must be able to communicate well and have excellent stakeholder management skills as we want you to be able to easily collaborate with both our schools and our delivery partners – from site assessment and design coordination through to construction and handing over into use. You will show initiative with our challenges and provide practical advice to identify solutions to job-specific challenges. An ability to travel throughout the North Island (day trips) is required to meet with our schools and suppliers.
