Acquired in 2020, Vision Valley is home to the College’s Outdoor Education and Experiential Learning Programs. Set on more than 75 acres of land surrounded by national parks, close to the majestic Hawkesbury River and its tributaries, and located only 45 minutes’ drive from the main campus in Pymble.

Reporting to the Head of Campus – Vision Valley you will be responsible for developing and maintaining high quality, safe, and engaging outdoor education programs at the Vision Valley campus. Of particular significance is the role’s responsibility for the development and implementation the emerging Year 9 residential program, including oversight of student wellbeing, the daily program, and the leadership of team members engaged to deliver various components of the program.

As the College embarks on its inaugural residential program at the Vision Valley campus, this role will assist our academic team members in delivering successful curriculum visits to the campus. In addition, this role is responsible for working with our research and program partners to develop specialist programs and service-learning partnerships that enhance student experience and give back to the community.

A teaching and/or outdoor education load within the programs based at the campus will form part of this role. This is a live-in role, with housing provided, which includes on-call and rostered program support as a key expectation of the incumbent.

You will demonstrate the following attributes and capabilities:

  • At least 8 years’ experience in teaching and/or outdoor education, including knowledge of best practice, preferably gained within an first class independent education institution (or similar)
  • A tertiary qualification in Education and/or Outdoor Education
  • Be physically fit and healthy, and committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle to students
  • Willingness to work flexible hours on a roster and/or on-call basis as required
  • Proven experience in the management of educational administrative systems, basic software systems and online applications
  • A working understanding of risk management and workplace health and safety in a school and/or outdoor education environment
  • Well-developed communication, time management and organisational skills
  • Effective relationship management skills with external service providers, parents/carers, residents, and other stakeholders
  • Understand the importance of student health and wellbeing, balance in workloads and provide appropriate support where necessary
  • Hold a LR or MR driver’s license and current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain both)
  • Alignment to and demonstration of the College’s values
