Work Culture

Everyone is mature and good-natured at work. We don’t like drama or nonsense. Communication is key at House of Dumplings.
We have a very low staff turnover rate. Most of our staff have been with us for over three years. We are looking for someone who is keen to grow with us long term.
What to expect
If you are willing to work hard in a production kitchen environment and don’t mind the repetitive work, then this job is for you!
A daily dumpling production target is set each day. We have a small production team of 3 people and will soon be growing to 5 (hopefully with your help!)
We produce five days a week, 8am to 4:30pm.
8 – 10 hours per shift.
You must be available minimum of 2 shifts per week. We can chat about which date works or doesn’t work for you.
You are expected to follow our food safety and health & safety policies at work. Good personal hygiene is expected.
Flexibility at work
We have some form of flexibility with which day you would able to work. We just need to know in advance as we plan our production schedule weeks in advance.
Food Production Experience
This position is best suited for a mature person who has great patience and understands the importance of food safety. You must have at least one years of production kitchen experience but you will receive continuous training. Throughout the day, you are expected to:
- be able to lift 20kg vege crates
- operate the oven
- operate the blast freezers
- hand-make dumplings
- assist our production manager in using various machines safely
Need not apply if you have less than 1 years of commercial kitchen experience. NZ Permanent Residents or Citizens ONLY.
