Thursday and Friday, Respiratory Outpatients
We are seeking a highly capable and friendly Health Care Assistant to create a positive patient experience in our department. In this role, you will be responsible for improving utilisation of resources and maintaining the efficient flow of outpatient clinics through your thorough preparation of clinics and ability to guide patients through the clinic’s various facilities and procedures. You may also be required to obtain patient information and perform and minor procedures as directed by healthcare professionals.
To ensure success, our Clinic Assistant should exhibit a proactive approach toward ensuring excellent patient care. Outstanding candidates will have clinic administration experience and be able to follow detailed instructions.
Clinic Assistant Responsibilities:
- Creating a positive experience by welcoming and assisting clinic patients.
- Preparing clinics by ensuring patients arrive at their appointment having undergone any required preparation, e.g. chest x-rays, blood tests, etc
- Preparing patient files by obtaining personal and health information.
- Maintaining patient data records for evaluation purposes
- Performing minor tasks as directed by healthcare professionals, e.g. ECG
- Promoting patient safety by maintaining a clean and hygienic environment
- Supporting good communication between patients and healthcare providers
- Setting up and stocking examination and procedure rooms
Clinic Assistant Requirements:
- NZQA Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) Health Assistance or equivalent
- Ability to record, monitor, and report a patient’s condition to professional personnel
- Knowledge of healthcare practices, standards, and medical terminology
- Advanced record-keeping abilities and proficiency in related software, e.g. ECA.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to assist and reassure patients.
- Ability to prioritise and perform multiple tasks as directed by healthcare professionals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
