The Transport Accident Investigation Commission (TAIC) is looking for an Information Management and Communications Technologies (IMCT) Advisor.

The (Senior) Advisor IMCT leads TAIC’s vendor, user and asset management for IMCT equipment and services. They help maintain the IMCT strategy and service plan, ensure IMCT is managed in accordance with requirements and best practice, and that IMCT infrastructure and processes are efficient. They are an advocate, auditor, coach and hands-on as appropriate.

TAIC is an independent Crown entity that supports the Transport Accident Investigation Commission (the Commission) in its task of determining the circumstances and causes of transport accidents and incidents in order to avoid similar occurrences.

Multi-disciplinary teams, led by an investigator in charge, investigate and analyse the circumstances of significant air, marine and rail occurrences, supporting the Commission to consider the facts, and make findings and recommendations to improve transport safety rather than to ascribe blame. The Commission’s vision is ‘no repeat accidents – ever!’

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • 5+ years’ experience in IMCT related roles
  • Experience in basic set-up of laptop and surface devices
  • Experience in Cloud based applications and OneDrive technologies
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of relevant GCIO policies and guidance, and relevant legislation
  • Experience in using, administering and training staff in typical information and communications technologies (Windows 10 devices, MS Office365, iPhones)
  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to effectively manage competing work priorities.

It goes without saying you’ll have excellent communication skills – oral and written. A high level of professionalism, the ability to work with a wide range of people, and work collaboratively wherever required. Given the nature of the organisation’s work, you’ll have a sound level of competence and personal resilience to handle material that may be of a sensitive or distressing nature.

The appointee must be agreeable to a police records check and achieve security clearance assessment to a confidential level.
