Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi. Engari, he toa takitini.

Success is not the work of one, but the work of many.

Fixed Term, 30 June 2023 – Part-time

64 hours per fortnight (0.8 FTE)

This exciting role is part of the Child Health Housing Team with the goal of preventing children and young people becoming unwell by completing housing assessments and implementing interventions to make homes dryer and healthier.

There will be plenty of variety and challenge with this position as the Kaiawhina will be part of a team of Social Workers and other Kaiawhina who are responsible for ensuring all eligible families receive a housing assessment and intervention plan.

In addition, you will be a part of the wider Child Health Team, working with school communities and whanau in Napier. It is essential that you have experience of working effectively with children, young people and their whanau and have a thorough knowledge of the health and social issues that vulnerable children and their families experience.

Ideally you would have worked in primary health care and/or school settings and have experience supporting families to access health and social services. Strong communication skills, a commitment to positive child development, healthy lifestyles and an excellent understanding and commitment to reducing health inequities for Maori are essential. Full orientation will be given and supervision provided.

For more information, please contact Liz Read on 06 878 8109 ext. 6077.
