About the Role
As a Kitchen hand, you will be responsible for assisting the Food Services Team Leader to prepare and serve tasty and nutritious means for lunch and dinner. We are looking for someone who is confident in the kitchen but we can provide additional training to ensure you get off to a great start.
Duties involve:
- Preparation of morning tea, and lunchtimes
- Clear tables when all residents have finished eating
- Ensure meals are served at the appropriate size and temperature
- Maintain daily food and fridge temperature checks
- Operate within food hygiene standards and protocols
- Be considerate of residents during mealtimes and ensure their needs are met appropriately
We have a part time role available, working regular rostered shifts, get in touch and talk to us about what you are looking for, we may just have the right hours for you! If you have flexibility to work additional hours across the full 7 day week it is a bonus as there is always a need to cover for leave and absences within the team, so willingness and ability to do this is appreciated within the Home.
About You
As well as a passion for the wellbeing of older people, you will be enthusiastic but patient and well organised with great interpersonal skills and sense of humour. You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect. You will also have:
- Experience working in a kitchen (preferred)
- Good communication skills and have a person centred approach
- High standards of personal hygiene and appearance
- If you hold a food safety/hygiene certificate, that would be great but if you don’t have one we can train you in what you need to know
- Enjoy being able to contribute to the work of your team and how this impacts the experiences of our residents
- You will hold a valid Covid-19 vaccine passport
