Kōrero mō te tūranga About the role

Due to 2 staff members moving into leadership roles within our OT team we have FTE available in clinical areas 0.6 FTE Inpatient rehabilitation ward and 0.4 FTE Medical ward

This is an opportunity to combine these FTE to make 1.0 FTE for someone who has experience in these areas and wanting variety in their day or if you re looking for part time in one particular area we are happy to discuss.

This position is suitable for someone with sound clinical reasoning demonstrated in assessment, intervention and discharge planning for clients presenting with physical disability or age related conditions.


Mō tō mātou rōpū About our team

The Occupational Therapy service see patients/clients within the hospital or based in the community. Services are based in MAPU, the acute wards, the rehabilitation wards, community occupational therapy and specialist teams

The Older Persons and Rehabilitation inpatient role has a caseload which consists of a wide range of patients/clients and requires knowledge of common medical, surgical, orthopaedic and age related conditions and detailed knowledge of diagnosis and clinical management of stroke and neurological conditions.

In the medical role you will manage a diverse caseload; including clients presenting with neurological conditions and cognitive dysfunction. Clients who are recovering after illness or surgery and clients who have a range of disability or age-related conditions.

You will be part of a highly skilled and supportive team. We offer professional supervision, a comprehensive orientation programme and ongoing professional development.

Moū About you

In this role you must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will have the ability to prioritise, to work under pressure and to manage your time effectively. You will be supported by an experienced team of occupational therapists within the inpatient and you will have access to on-going professional development.

Skills & Experience

  • Registration and current APC with Occupational Therapy Board NZ
  • At least 3 years clinical experience in relevant inpatient setting
  • Experience in collaborative Multidisciplinary/Interprofessional practice
  • Enable NZ Accreditation in Personal care and household management or equivalent
  • Demonstrates ability to build rapport with patient and whānau from all backgrounds
  • Current drivers licence
