Are you excited by the prospect of a role that gives you the potential to make something special, even more so with your added flair? Are you a highly motivated individual that knows how to make people feel at ease?

The Cancer Society is one of New Zealand’s leading charities with a mission to improve community wellbeing by reducing the incidence and impact of cancer. The Cancer Society works with communities to provide leadership and advocacy in cancer control, with core services in supportive care, health promotion, information, advocacy, and research.

This role supports key Cancer Society services. These include Daffodil House which is our accommodation facility that offers a ‘home away from home’ for patients receiving cancer treatment in Dunedin and our Driving Service which provided transport to clients receiving cancer treatment.

We are currently looking for someone dynamic to support the operational day-to-day running of the House, and co-ordinating our Driving Service.

As no day is ever the same, you would bring a flexible approach, balancing essential administration tasks, with attending to unexpected issues, and ensuring rooms are made up spic and span, both drivers and clients informed of travel arrangements. You’ll need to be highly organised, with demonstrated good time management skills. You’d describe yourself as the type of person who is happy to roll up your sleeves and get things done.

However, to have the X-factor for this role, you would also bring empathy and compassion, with an understanding of the impact cancer has on individuals and their loved ones. You would have daily interactions with our residents, clients, and volunteers, making them feel welcome and part of a team. You would work closely with our Supportive Care team – our trained health professionals that work in the community – if more significant issues arose.

We are seeking someone based in Dunedin who can work 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
