About our team/Mō te tīma
The Department of Microbiology and Immunology undertakes both fundamental and applied research of international standard across many areas of microbiology, immunology and virology.
We are also renowned for the quality of our teaching to Science and Health Science students, and for our strong postgraduate programme.
The role/Te mahi
The successful candidate will carry out research as part of an externally funded Health Research Council project entitled: “A dual safety system to promote CAR T cell activation and migration”.
- To plan and conduct experiments relating to the overall objectives of the project.
- Develop CAR T cell constructs required for project.
- To provide high quality training within areas of expertise.
- Assist with supervision and training of postgraduate students.
- Obtain production-ready data for publications/patents.
- To analyse data and present it at scientific meetings.
- To write up results for publications.
Your skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako
- PhD with additional Postdoctoral Fellow training in areas as outlined in Key Tasks.
- Publications in relevant areas in peer-reviewed, international journals.
- Expertise in miRNA, CAR T cells, retroviral vectors and protein expression.

This is a full-time (1FTE), fixed term position for 3 years.
The position is available from October 2022 (negotiable).
The salary for this role is $78, 960 per annum.
