Job Description:

PT Assistant Tutor Coordinator

Non-benefited, MCCC unit position

Danvers & Lynn Campus

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

At the Tutoring Center, you will find a community of learners who work together to support each member’s goals at NSCC. We strive to maintain a welcoming, supportive space that is interconnected with the wider campus community in support of student success. The Assistant Tutor Coordinator coordinates the activities of peer and professional tutors and other student employees in conjunction with other staff including the Tutor Coordinator. The position also assists with other operational needs as assigned. The high-impact services provided by the Tutoring Center continue to dynamically adjust to the realities of higher education in the post-pandemic era. In a time of increasing student needs, particularly in minoritized student populations, the Coordinator is instrumental in the Center’s ability to provide both on-ground and remote tutoring and study services and to offer technology access to our students.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Split time between Danvers and Lynn campuses as needed
  • Work with other assistant tutor coordinator to monitor daily tutoring operations in the absence of the tutor coordinator; communicate with tutor coordinator to ensure a consistent level of quality service on each campus
  • Act as a resource for Tutoring Center employees and students seeking tutoring services
  • Work with other assistant tutor coordinator to assist tutor coordinator in observing and evaluating tutoring staff
  • Assist in maintaining CRLA (College Reading and Learning Association) tutor training program and develop further trainings as assigned.
  • Assist in creating tutoring schedules and projecting budgetary needs
  • Assist in creating administrative documents and training materials
  • Assist in launching and developing pilot peer academic coaching program
  • Communicate with faculty stakeholders as needed; conduct promotion and outreach to include class visits that promote tutoring services
  • Assist in implementing EAB Navigate software
  • Related duties as assigned

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Coordinator of Tutoring Services and the Director of Learning Commons Services.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree Preferred.
  • Experience tutoring and training, mentoring, or supervising tutoring staff.
  • Strong time management, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with students with different levels of academic preparation and varying physical and learning abilities.
  • Successful experience interacting with culturally diverse populations.
  • Familiarity with TutorTrac preferred.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI and/or a National background check as a condition of employment.

COVID VACCINATION REQUIREMENT:
Candidates for employment should be aware that all North Shore Community College students, faculty and staff are required to be fully vaccinated by January, 2022. Accordingly, initial employment is dependent upon receipt and verification of full vaccination status records; details of how to fulfill vaccine record verification requirements will be provided during the hire and onboarding process.

Additional Information:

SALARY: $30.03 per hour, 20 hours/week; Non-benefited position

STARTING DATE: ASAP
