The Visitor Hosts are the first point of contact for visitors to Puke Ariki Museum. They welcome people entering the Museum and help them to make the most of their visit by providing information about exhibitions and events that are taking place. Hosts also ensure that Health and Safety standards are met. Puke Ariki is an innovative museum, library and information centre that combines learning, knowledge, resources and heritage objects for a visitor experience that is like no other. As a host, you are here to make connections – with our visitors, to our place and exhibitions, Taranaki’s heritage and cultures from around the world.
We have a vacancy for a permanent, part time position (26 hours a week)
To be successful in this role, you must:
Be passionate about working with museum visitors and delivering exceptional experiences?
Have a knowledge of Te ao Māori, principles of the Treaty of Waitangi
Collaborate on ideas to
Have a strong awareness of health and safety and how this applies in a museum setting
Be able to inspire a group with your confidence
Be energetic and physically fit to be on your feet for most of the day
A sound foundation of customer service within the Galleries, Libraries, Archive and Museum (GLAM) sector would be an advantage.
