At Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, we work to provide services and support nationally, regionally and locally to the education sector, and in some cases, directly to ākonga and whānau.

We help shape the policies, settings and performance of the education system for early learning, schooling and tertiary. We do this by building relationships and understanding the needs of those who receive our services.

About our group and team

Successful candidates will join our project community and be based within the Resourcing Group who deliver operational funding and staffing entitlements to nearly 2,500 schools. We administer annual payments of approximately $5.8 billion to Schools and Kura.

Our group provides provide high quality advice and support to Schools and Boards of Trustees including:

• We ensure Schools and Early Childhood centres receive correct resourcing entitlements through our Monitoring programme.
• We provide resourcing operational policy advice and guidance and produce one-off solutions to resourcing issues.
• Our Resourcing Contact Centre also provides direct telephone and email support to Schools’, Early Childhood Centres and the general public.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

We have an exciting, fixed term opportunity for a Senior Adviser to join the Equity Index (EQI) Implementation Team which is part of a Ministry-wide programme of work.

The EQI Implementation Team are leading the transition and embedding of the Equity Index into operational delivery.

In this role, you will bring a strong background in thought leadership and strategic advice. You will be responsible for making sure work is progressing on a day-to-day basis within our team and across the programme of work. The role is highly collaborative, so you will be required to form sound working relationships with colleagues and staff throughout the Ministry.

This role provides core advice and support to ensure project development and its implementation are effective. This will include designing implementation solutions for new, or the review of existing programmes of work, producing one-off solutions to school resourcing issues, and advising and guiding others on implementation.
