Support Worker – Porirua Residential

NZCare Disability is part of Healthcare NZ limited and provides services to people with disabilities across New Zealand; our aim being to maximise the independence and quality of life of the people we support.
We are looking for full time Support Workers to help the people we support in our Porirua residential services. This is a 24/7 roster Monday to Sunday which includes working overnight and alternate weekends. This will suit people who are looking for flexibility and more regular longer shifts in one place.
What does a Support Worker do?
Our support workers assist people who access our services to live as independently as possible, in their community. Support workers are part of a team who work shifts or specific rosters providing 24/7 cover with responsibilities including aiding with personal care, community outings and integration, and other aspects of daily living – enabling our clients to be as independent as possible.
You will be somebody who really thrives off helping others and who is committed to upholding high standards of care. Empathy, respect, and cultural awareness is important in this role as the people we support come from diverse backgrounds with varying needs and interests.

What are we looking for?
- A desire to support our people to learn new skills and achieve outcomes
- Prior experience supporting others with aspects of daily living, preferably those living with intellectual or physical disabilities
- Full driver’s license and confidence to safely transport passengers in our disability vans (training provided)
- Flexibility to work overnight shifts across a roster, including weekends
