About our group and team

Te Puna Hanganga, Matihiko | Infrastructure & Digital – Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, leads inclusive, accessible and integrated national, digital and physical infrastructure and transport services to the education system.

Our vision for school property is that all schools have quality learning environments as part of a well-managed and sustainable portfolio that helps deliver equitable and excellent outcomes for every child.

The Operational Practice and Funding (OP&F) team provides support to our property delivery teams within the Property Delivery group. OP&F is the conduit between National Office and frontline regional property teams to support the successful management of the practice framework and funding entitlements for schools. We do this by providing staff with the tools, resources, training, and learning and development they need to deliver quality advice and assistance to schools and suppliers. We are also responsible for managing key property related funding streams and processes through accurate calculation, allocation, quality assurance and modelling activities that equates to approximately $700 million annually.

Mō tēnei tūranga | About this role

Reporting to the National Manager Operational Practice and Funding -the Team Leader is part of the Property Delivery group and is a fantastic opportunity for an individual to lead the management and development of operational tools, resources, and funding to support successful delivery on Te Rautaki Rawa Kura – Property Strategy 2023.

This is a leadership role and development of the Operational Practice and Funding team is required, ensuring integration and alignment of processes and practices nationally ensuring good communication, cooperation, and integration of plans, approaches, and activities.

The Operational Practice and Funding team is growing to meet future business demand, so there are lots of opportunities to learn and grow in the team and try new things. It means we can provide development opportunities within and outside the team, and assign work based on skills and interest.

We are looking for people who have strong leadership and management skills including, developing and managing a team of advisors at all levels.

You will have proven experience providing successful leadership to busy projects with the ability to effectively manage workflows and tasks within the team, and the ability to utilise your teams’ skills and strengths to meet business demand and deadlines.

You must have the ability to think logically and strategically, prioritise effectively and multi-task in an environment where workloads can escalate quickly. You will be able to use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions, and experience leading teams through organisational change is a must.
