Upper Hutt City Council is seeking to appoint up to seven new Trustees to govern the Maidstone Park Community Sports Hub which includes the shared clubrooms and indoor training facility (currently under construction) and some other associated park functions.

Council is seeking interest from individuals who have proven governance or commercial experience or those who would like to contribute to the sport, recreation, leisure, play scene in Upper Hutt.

Trust meetings are likely to be held every six weeks and the positions are voluntary. The term of office is for up to three years from the date of appointment.

About Maidstone Park

A major project is under way to transform Maidstone Park, comprising of a new shared clubrooms, indoor training facility and several smaller, upgraded facilities in various parts of the park.

The redevelopment will create a multi-purpose sports park, which will be a focal point for recreation in the city, and the Wellington region. The vision is to create a mix of new facilities and improvements; directly addressing the issue of ageing sports infrastructure in Upper Hutt.

The government announced that the comprehensive redevelopment of our city’s sporting and recreation hub will be fast-tracked with a $15 million funding boost. The project is expected to be finished by the end of 2023.

To enable Upper Hutt community sport and recreation to grow and thrive for the future.

The Trust requires a mix of skills from Trustees. If you are a committed, highly skilled person with a background in one or more of the following – finance, marketing and communications, sponsorship, health and safety, human resource, or legal we’d love to hear from you.
