Customer Services Officer (Recreation) / Kaiārahi Ratonga Kiritaki (Mahi ā-Rēhia) – Porirua City Council – Porirua, Wellington

Porirua City is our place. We are proud of our indoor recreation facilities and we are seeking someone to share our passion for providing an exceptional customer experience every time. You will bring your friendly and positive approach to welcome over 500,000 customers to Te Rauparaha Arena. This is an exciting opportunity to join a great team with a shared purpose and common goal to ensure that all customers visiting our facilities feel welcomed and understood.

This role will enable you to interact with customers face-to-face and over the phone. You will need to maintain knowledge of all of our activities, pricing and events and have the ability to pick up systems easily. Experience working in a fast-paced customer service environment is also desired.

This is a permanent part-time role working 32 hours per week; shifts will be rostered in advance and may include weekend days. The Reception team work 7 days; between 5:00am and 9:30pm during the week and from 7:00am to 7:30pm on weekends. Please let us know your availability in your cover letter.

You’ll need to show us that you:

  • have previous experience in a customer service role
  • can work efficiently while paying attention to detail and are a quick learner
  • have the ability to be a super user of our operating system and train others, as well as having excellent computer skills.
  • enjoy working in a team and meeting new people
  • can thrive in busy environments and keep your cool in pressured situations
  • have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • can put the customer at the front of your decision making

To reduce the risk of harm of Covid-19 to our staff and our community, Council require all staff to be fully vaccinated. It has therefore been determined that this role may only be performed by a person who is fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
