Job Description
Who we are
Te Rourou, Vodafone Aotearoa Foundation is the charitable arm of Vodafone New Zealand. Established in 2002, we invest in organisations, programmes and ideas that create better outcomes for young people. Our vision is an equitable Aotearoa, where all rangatahi have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. We want all young people to be able to make decisions about their future and live lives they value – we don’t want them to be locked out of opportunity by systems and experiences beyond their control. Our goal is to halve the number of young people experiencing exclusion and disadvantage in New Zealand by 2027 – and we are focusing that work in Invercargill. Over the past 12 months we have been building relationships, conducting research and working to understand what is required to create a step-change in outcomes for rangatahi in Invercargill. Our strategy is focused on four areas of impact: supercharging the sector, building future pathways, supporting Māori aspirations and creating connection. This role is specifically tasked with supercharging the sector by increasing connection, uplifting capacity and capability, identifying opportunities for systemic change, and taking collective action.
Role Purpose
To work alongside our the Vodafone Aotearoa Foundation team, key stakeholders and our two Community Catalysts to improve outcomes for the Vodafone’s community partners and for the overall outcomes of our programme of work in Murihiku and the OHI Data Navigator.
Role details
Responsible to the Head of the Foundation, you will be working with a small team in Invercargill and across the country. This is a part-time role with flexible working options. This is initially a 12 month, fixed-term contract with a salary range of $75,000 – $100,000 pro rata depending on experience, with the strong possibility of extension.

Focus Areas / Key Accountabilities
This is a new position that will work to build understanding and monitor the efficacy of our work in Murihiku, as well as supporting community organisations to better understand impact and evaluation. We are not expecting applicants to be deeply experienced in developmental evaluation. Instead, we are looking for a range of qualities and skills, and a strong desire to learn. The successful applicant will be provided with mentoring support and the opportunity to connect to a nation-wide community of practice to develop thinking and skills. The key focus areas are:

  • Gather and distil relevant knowledge
  • Support the Foundation and Our Community Partners to Understand and Track Impact
  • Understand, record and share learnings
  • Support the Te Rourou team
  • Build relationships and contribute to a community of practice

We are looking for applicants with research experience, authentic curiosity, empathy and the ability to be reflective, pragmatism, focus and an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
