About the role
The Data Science Institute at UTS looking to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Fellow or Postdoctoral Research Associate to work closely with Prof. Longbing Cao on his ARC Discovery Grant (DP190101079) research concerned with behaviour informatics, deep behaviour modelling, machine learning, deep learning, and associated research.
You will work on the research project and tasks to support the development of high quality project deliverables and provide good research outcomes.
:About the role:
- Engage in research appropriate to the strategic research direction of Data Science.
- Work toward developing state-of-the-art methods for complex behaviour modelling, shallow and deep machine learning, and statistical learning algorithms.
- Establish and develop productive collaborative research activities internally with colleagues in the Institute, Faculty and University and externally with other broader based research partners.
- Produce research publications at a rate appropriate to the level of employment.
- Collaborate with research students and contribute to the development of research students as future researchers.
- Represent Data Science to the wider community by fostering, promoting and developing links with industry, government, academic and professional bodies, including undertaking consultancies where appropriate.
About you:
We are looking for an emerging motivated leader with the following qualities and experiences to foster the right outcomes for the discipline:
- A PhD Degree in statistics, applied mathematics, machine learning, AI or data science.
- Programming skills in Python, TensorFlow and other relevant tools including visualization are essential.
- High quality publication record.
- Ability to deliver high quality results for ARC Discovery Projects as a key contributor.
- Ability to cooperate and coordinate the project’s research team.
- Well-demonstrated background and experience in relevant areas.

Remuneration
Remuneration & Benefits
Base Salary Range: $93,219 to $129,345 pa (Level A or B)
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 1 year.
