The Role / Te mahi
As a Trades Assistant, you will work with the wider Trade Services teams to deliver excellent services, such as repair, maintenance, alterations, and installation of signage around campus. You will ensure that quality trade and signage services are delivered in a responsive, safe, and cost-effective manner.

Ideally you will have previous experience in a trade related activity, such as: construction, mechanical, painting industry or similar, with knowledge of basic hand tool use. Your general workshop skills will be of great use in this position as you work alongside the Leading Hand to deliver customer focused signage and signwriting services.
- Physically fit and able to complete manual work.
- Cooperative, with a positive attitude to work and a desire to learn more.
- Experienced in health and safety best practice.
Mō te tīma / About our Team
The signage department is part of the Building Services Unit and is responsible for development, upkeep, and installation of wayfinding signage on the University of Otago campus.
Property Services, as part of the wider University of Otago is a Division responsible for buildings with a replacement cost of NZ$2.5 billion, and more than 22,000 hectares of land. With over 3,500 University Staff and 20,000 students, it can be a bit like helping to run a small town.
We deploy, support and maintain a wide and exciting array of equipment and facilities including state-of-the-art research laboratories, large student accommodation facilities, and a variety of multi-use space from teaching facilities through to restaurant and café venues.

This is a permanent, full-time position located in Dunedin.
